So I think this is actually a daisy, or I should say it was a daisy before my very boyish boy bent it at a 90 degree angle and turned it into a firearm. Marc tied balloons for all the boys one Sunday and I thought it was sweet that Benjamin wanted a yellow flower.... until he started shooting imaginary monsters with it. Now those monsters are pushing up daisies. How ironic.
Five boys, five years apart, living in a place where a temperature of negative five means it's still warm enough for outdoor recess.

The Unsuspecting Selfie
All of my boys really love to use my cell phone camera. The pictures are often fuzzy or off-centered but Benjamin takes the cake. He doesn't even capture his subject matter at all most of the time. Instead, he accidentally turns the camera around and takes selfie after selfie without checking the screen to see what he's shot. I thought I would share this series of portraits Benjamin took of Elijah. I'm posting 6 pictures, but in reality I think there were closer to 12 attempts before we got that clear shot at the end.

Food For Fun
I have a problem. I make shaped foods, mostly pancakes, but other things too. It takes much longer than just creating the stereotypical circles, I'm not entirely sure why I do it. Sometimes my boys can't even tell what exactly I've made because, let's face it, I am no artist. I guess, in some weird way, my oddly shaped pancakes are ways of saying "I Love You" to the little boys in my life. Anyway, here are some of things I have made for them so far this year:
New Year's personal pizzas. Yes, I did cut those numbers out of pepperonis. Yes, I am aware that is a ridiculous use of time.
I can't remember who asked for frogs but I was rather impressed with the result. These were much less traumatic to dissect than the ones in high school biology.
Valentine's fried donuts. Don't worry, I put icing on them after I took the picture. Tobias used it for a facial mask.
Heart shaped pancakes for Tobias's birthday. See the "1" and the "T" made out of chocolate chips?
My boys were all excited about the letter "P" on President's Day so we had a P-themed dinner including popcorn, pickles and pancakes. Of course, these are no ordinary pancakes. No, these are Pink Peanutbutter Penguin Pancakes.
Shamrock pizzas with green crust anyone? Unfortunately I did not photograph the rainbow pancakes we had that morning for St. Patricks's Day.
Finally, I just had to post another messy picture of our good eater Tobias. He just finished his dinner of vegan southwest cabbage rolls. That may not sound like the most fun meal, but with Tobias food is always fun no matter what shape it comes in.
